Girlfriend: a common species of parasite that, or so it is theorized, emits some unidentifiable gaseous substance that attracts its prey. For, while easily recognizable, wary human males (and in some cases females) willingingly approach this species and even initiate the bond that later produces the parasitic effects. Over time, the girlfriend takes over both mind and body of its prey, leaving one incapable of independent thought, sapped of rebellious will, devoid of any monetary assets, and in ownership of ridiculous amounts of tupperware.
It is advisable, for your safety, to avoid these creatures, if not terminate them on sight.
