you have to look at the progression of his art in context with what the forefront of american artists were doing back then, the desire after the horror of World War II to paint in a new way. They said that after WWII painting in the old way was pointless. pollock did what NOONE had done, and just because it is seemingly easy to create something similar, does not discredit the beauty of the original works. what are Pollock, Motherwell, DeKooning, Kline, etc. other than art "noise" in a very real sense? Motherwell is everything
