I remeber I worked in a movie theater an this scene guy asked me what music I listen to.
Him: What do you listen to?
Me: Mostly 80's alternative rock stuff.
Him: Like who?
Me: Pixies, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr (I was going for the biggest names)
Him: I've never heard of any of those.
Me: Okay.
And I left it at that. He obviously wasn't going to delve into further questions if the bands didn't have "Blood," "Leaves," etc. in them.
