Only 25% or so of americans can be considered right wing lunatics. in a country where only 40% of the eligible population vote (around 90 million) about 40% of those are republicana nd about 50% of those are actual right wing lunatics (and that is an overestimation by far)
That means in a country of 240 million, around 20 million are right wing fundamentalists.
problem is EACH AND EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM VOTE, unlike the 100 milion or so marihuana users, who if they did vote collectively would win landslide after landslide.
keeping people apathetic allows the right wing fundamentalists to run the show.
