Rather than suggesting beers from around the world, I would recommend people try the great "micro" brews made right here in the good old USA. One has to look a little for them--which means going to more of a beer specialty store or a really good supermarket. The best companies, I think, are Rogue, Three Floyds, and Flying Dog, but there are many many more that make great ales in local areas that don't get wide distribution. This beer is almost always more flavorful and adventurous than anything you'll find from the big names, even the foreign ones. These small companies take bigger chances, doing "big" beers like double IPAs or even just very bold takes on the usual styles.
