I didn't think that Atonement was as great as all the critics seemed to think it was. It was probably technically really good (I'm no expert on the technical side of film-making, hence I say probably), the start of it was a good depiction of certain part of British society in the '30s, and the war scenes did a good depiction of the horror of war, but as a whole I found it a bit lacking in focus. I'm pleased that Keira Knightley hasn't been nominated for best actress for it, because she didn't really do enough to deserve it. Anyway, I don't think she's ready for that accolade just yet.
