one time these girls in my class spent an hour and a half nursing a bird that had flown into a window. it was stunned, but otherwise fine. they were getting all attached to it and everything. when it looked energetic enough to fly away on it's own, they released it. it got about 4 feet away when a huge hawk swooped down and snatched it up. i laughed. they hated me.
