Sorry, Hayden, we'll agree to disagree.

Harmony is my favorite director on principle; the ideas in his film, the images, the music, everything about him would suggest he's the best director/writer I've ever seen. Unfortunately, the films themselves, the actual product of all his work, do absolutely nothing for me. Especially Julien Donkey-Boy... man... I dunno, it's just a rambling mess. And I love "challenging" "avant garde cinema", but his films honestly bore me. Which is hard to do. Yet at the same time I love them -- I just can't reccomend them. Does that make any sense?

Let me try to restate that.. I think his films are loaded with so much brilliance that I wish the actual "product" was a bit more, hmm.. watchable? I think the dude's a genius, I just don't know if he's a very good editor.

A director I do absolutely reccomend for fans of Harmony is this guy Giuseppe Andrews.. he makes similiar films of trashy brilliance.. check out his work PERIOD PIECE.. talking tater tots, 90 year old men shoving pork rinds up their asses, smoking dead pigs, fucking stuffed teddy bears, etc... all this weird trailer town shit.. it's amazing.

I haven't seen Mr. Lonely but I will when I get a chance. I'm a big fan of the ideas of Harmony's, I just.. you know.. he hasn't made a film yet that really just captures me from beginning to end.
