I was brought up literally five minutes walk from Canning Town. It's a dock area that would can goods coming off the ships and had a very tough reputation, as all dock areas tended to have in those days prior to their closure in the 80s. Danny Dyer has built a career out of boasting about his tough Eastend background, despite the fact that unlike anyone else I know from Canning Town, he went to Sunday School and then on to stage school.
He's a few years younger than me but my cousin knew him quite well and says he was a total joke when he was a kid, and finds it hilarious that he now does TV documentaries where he gets to hang out with local football hooligans and gangsters. That people find him sexy is fine, but I just get really irritated watching him bowling around on TV like he's some kind of underworld don. The twat even gave guests Pie and Mash at his wedding.
Never had much time for people who base their entire career on the postcode they once lived in.
Anyway, sorry about the off-topic chicane I just threw there but I've been needing to get that off my chest for a while now.
