Evan Parker

Simply put, Evan Parker is one of the pivotal figures in the

development of late twentieth century musical language, technique and

aesthetics. He has performed in numberless context and invented many

of his own, all characterised by his epoch-defining virtuosity and

pure spirit of exploration. Tonight he plays solo saxophone.

Prankster, broadcaster, raconteur, audio-artist extraordinaire,
Willem

de Ridder has for many years been the Nothern Europe organiser of

FLUXUS. Fresh from an audio commission at Tate Modern, tonight he

presents a monologue accompanied by the Resonance Radio Orchestra's

James Dunn and Max O'Brien.

Chris Cutler

A member of Henry Cow, Art Bears, Cassiber and a dozen other bands,

founder of Recommended Records, Chris Cutler has exerted a singular

influence on modern music, characterised by. Tonight Chris takes time

off from his current projects (with Daevid Allen, Hugh Hopper, Heiner

Goebbels et al) to perform his first UK solo in many years, playing

drums and electronics.

Jem Finer

From the commercial success of The Pogues to the artistic triumph of

Score for a Hole in the Ground, Jem Finer's music transcends easy

categorisation and entertains and baffles in equal measure. Tonight's

performance will, typically, be entirely unpredictable: all that is

certain is that elegance and wit will feature prominently.

John Butcher and Toshimaru Nakamura

Wire cover-start Butcher has redefined the saxophone. Here he plays

for the first time in the UK with Toshi Nakamura, one of the stars of

LMC's Japanorama tour and established as the leading light in

minimal-but-gripping "onkyo" scene.

+ Louisa Martin + Furt +John Lely + special guest: Christian Marclay.

Widely known for his radical approach to turntables, records and mass

media, which has placed him at the very forefront of contemporary
art,

tonight Christian Marclay presents a new video work as his

contribution to this exceptional festival.
