That's so weird 'cause I had pretty similar experience with Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins.
Late night radio show put on a song by them that I liked so I taped it with all the other songs that I liked off the radio, then I bought the Gish album some time after and by the end of side A of that album I thought that it was shite and didn't want to have anything to do with it.
