I like finding a style and stocking up. Levis work for me and they're comparatively cheap. Usually under 50 bucks, even less on sale and in the Levis Store.

I try to find "raw" or "soft rigid", the unwashed, and break them in myself. When they start out that way, they last longer than the "pre-distressed" denim and they end up looking less mass produced and more individual.

My favorite fit right now is the 511 but I also like 501s.

I have a lot of "fashion-conscious" acquaintances who won't pay less than 200 for a pair of jeans, and while I see the appeal, I'd rather spend that kind of money on shirts and shoes.
