some of my favourite bands:

Sonic Youth -
band that opened my music taste up. when i first heard Daydream Nation, i really couldn't get into it. but coming back to it a few months later, it really showed me what music can do. it inspired me, someday i hope to reach the greatness value of DN in my own musical pursuits.

King Crimson -
they've created 3 of my favourite records (Red, Larks Tongues, Discipline). Robert Fripp is such a breathtaking guitarist, every riff is completely unique. my favourite line-up is the one with Levin and Belew but i've always thought that Red is their best record. i couldn't really name too many good things about them, other than they're a band i could listen to nonstop for days and usually put out awesome to classic records.

Big Black/Shellac -
i'm putting them together because i don't like the individual bands THAT MUCH but as a collective Steve's projects have been some of the most interesting music i've ever listened to. i first heard Songs About Fucking when i was 13 and i could really relate to it as i had just started high school and was terribly pissed off at everything ("I would like to wrap your hair, round your head like a noose" and other lines described perfectly what i thought about my peers). Shellac is continuation of that fucked up anger, except it feels more restrained, expressing anger and frustration through different forms of sound. two amazing bands, individually they are not technically one of my favourites, but they are definitely a favourite when it comes to mood and enjoyment.

Boris -
never have i seen a band change their sound so much than Boris. every time they change their sound, they seem to keep the quality. Flood is one of my favourite records due to it's sheer i dunno... beauty maybe. while they've not made a lot of CLASSIC AMAZING records, they are consistently solid and one of my most played artists.

Kayo Dot/maudlin of the Well -
maudlin of the well's Bath is my 2nd favourite album of all time, if i ever were to compile a list of favourite moments in music then that album would fill most of it up. Kayo Dot is on the list as i think they are the most exciting band to come out this decade and hopefully their influence will shine in later years.
