I mentioned Gene Vincent (we nearly named our so Gene after him) but I was also a big fan of Eddie Cochran. He started out doing more country/hillbilly stuff, mainly as part of the Cochran Brothers with Hank Cochran (no relation).

The man you hear on the radio bears very little resemblance to the host of Buzzcocks or the lame comedian. He's just really passionate and knowledgable about the music he likes. He's compiled a few CDs including Roc-King Up A Storm and Mark Lamarr's Ace Is Wild. Both are absolutely faultless compilatons.
I also agree with everything you said about psychobilly, The Cramps and Reverend Horton Heat.
