Yr right. Of course I did not list all the different types of slasa, or early ska, or reggae or other stuff I also love. I listento a LOT of types of music. I just do not like revival music. I do not enjoy 5th wave rockabilly, or 6th wave surf bands. I find it very faddish and unappealing.
2nd wave is a s far as I take it, because it is people riffing upon their responses to the original artists (the specials riffing on the skatalites as a very rudimentary example)
anything after that feels so diluted.
I never said surf rock did not have amazing talent and great riffs and catchy tunes. They just do not resonate with me. if rock is a child of the blues then surf rock is nearly the whitest, blandest "cracka-ass" offshoot of rock there is.
