The mushrooms are the same, though they may technically get you intoxicated like Communion Wine, the belief and intention of their use shifts the defining of what they are. After all, I do not take Communion to get the drug affects of the alcohol that I am consuming at the time.
[and on a side, sonic youth moment note, when we take communion we chant "Ineffible Ineffible Ineffible Holy Trinity...' and no matter what, always, for three years now! i hear in my head hear kim sing "ineffible.."]

I see where you're coming from, but I don't look at mushrooms like that.
A lot of people I know see shrooms as a power, and feel like they've found something or other once their trip is done.
When I do mushrooms, get get high and trip out. When it's over, I either try to go to sleep or I just pass out. Nothing found, nothing lost, just a good time.
