1. What's more important, democracy or freedom of religion?
(Was the Turkish military coup to preserve freedom of religion justified?)
Democracy, because with democracy comes freedom of religion. Or at least a good one anyway.
2. How do we decide which immoral behavior should be punishable by the state and which immoral behavior should not?
A vote or a poll is the best way to go.
3. Can someone who has committed a heinous crime be so punished by their own guilt that no sentence is needed?
I believe some sentence is needed... though those who commit horrible crimes are often mentally ill, so....
4. Does the penal system keep society safer or does it have an inverse effect?
It was originally intended for good, until it got so out of whack it's kind of doing the opposite right now.
5. How far should the genetic engineering of humans go? Are we at risk of breeding a generation with an Aryan attitude in which naturally created humans are considered inferior?
I think human engineering actually creates the opposite effect... it proves that we are all the same, yet different. Though you'd definitely have to be careful around those waters, because it can create a sort of nazi effect if not handled and maintained correctly.
6. Is incest wrong because of offspring's potential genetic defects, or is it because of the nature of family?
Uhhh, both? Something is seriously fucked up if you're your own grandpa.
7. Is it important for small ethnicities to continue on? If an ethnicity dies out due to reproducing with other ethnicities, is that a bad thing?
Bah, who cares. Sure there's gonna be some racist who want to carry on their nationality or whatever, but who cares, really? The human race and all other species, 'living' or not, were meant to cross-breed. It keeps the genes fresh and new. Otherwise we'd all be idiots; studies show that mixed nationalities actually produce more intelligent beings.
8. With modern day weaponry- smart bombs, tanks, nukes, etc. . . how can people hold any power over their government?
They can't. Things need to be changed.
9. Do humans need attempt to control their population, or will natural occurrences take control?
A little bit of both. What the fuck, Catholics? Ever heard of birth control? Fuck. Darwinism also comes into play somewhere in there... along with diseases, etc. We've all gotta die somehow.
10. Is the world overpopulated with humans? Is there enough wealth to go around?
The world is WAY too overpopulated. It's actually disgusting. Because of overpopulation, not every person on this planet can reach their full potential because of poverty caused by overpopulation. Kinda sad...
11. How important is space exploration and space settlement?
I think we need to focus more on where we live first, but whatever. I don't care either way.
12. Is there a way to stop urban sprawl?
Nope.
13. Can civil engineers find a way for us to live more harmoniously with our environment?
Sure, they can find a way, but will it actually come into action? Probably not.
