The Technics SL-1200MK5 is the mac daddy for Dj-ing. They are sturdy, but sturdy doesn't really come into play if you are only playing albums in your room. If you are trying to sink up beats - aka - mixing from from one record to another, this is the turntable for you. Don't shell out $$$ for something you don't need.
but sony isnt really a company which stands for quality. I would rather spent the money once for a really good tunrtable then spending money for a turntable every 5-10 years
