ZENI GEVA "FREEDOM BONDAGE"
1995, Alternative Tenacles

Ridiculously heavy, pounding noise metal produced by Steve Albini. Mixing subtle prog and art rock influences, the songs have some of the weirdest time-changes-out-of-nowhere that I've ever heard in a band like this. Also, it's worth noting that I don't think there's a bass to be heard on this album, but the guitars are tuned so low you probably won't be able to tell. Subtle acoustic and keyboard riffs fill the space. Amazing drums. Brilliant guttural screams from KK Null. An album that's hard to wear out; endlessly interesting, diverse, and inspiring... in my mind, a very important record in the field of heavy music.
