bullshit man. "$1600 in 30 minutes" is a load of bullshit. i'd laugh them off the phone & say "call me back when you're ready to be serious" & hang up.

but do you have legal aid in your school? you should be able to get some advice on this bullshit.

ps- on the matter of debts, they have to freeze EVERYTHING if you say "i've hired a lawyer". of course you have to offer up his/her number then. but you can say "i lost his business card! let me call you back with it..."
