In June 2006, the Islamic Courts Union took control of Somali through a coalition of provincial warlords. The ICU had no intentions of implementing a kind of government which Somalis would have enjoyed, and instead opted for a radically fundamentalist Islamic system, and the Somalis, while radical, are by no means fundamentalist muslims, in fact, they are what Utah folk by call Jack Muslims.
so anyways, the ICU declared war on Ethiopia September 2006, and this threat is serious, in 1977 there were nearly 200,000 somalis invading into Ethiopia.
The Ethiopians wanted to shut the ICU down, the US wanted to get back into East Africa, in December 2006 the check cleared in Ethiopia, $226 million in direct military-aid for intervention in Somalia. The Ethiopians have been there since Dec 26. They would have withdrawn in weeks without the continual US $$$ given to them to fight the proxy war, cuz remember blackhawk down, the US don't like Somalia very much, they are not so tuff there. The Ethiopians unfortunately have taken a hell on earth, and turned into hell itself.
