Part of I what I find annoying about people who bash Freud is that they don't realise that psychoanalysis didn't just stagnate with Freud and that it has still been developing since with many significant practitioners/theorists. It kind of makes their criticisms irrelevant. It's bit like saying medicine doesn't work just because those herbs people used a thousand years ago mostly had no effect. I think that's the problem of teaching psychoanalysis on psychology degree courses, it's done so lightly.
