An example of this would be the fact that ants use a pedometer to get about. Tests were done with ants with one group having their legs lengthened and one having their legs shortened. The ones with the lengthened legs over shot the thing they were travelling to while the ones with shortened legs didn't reach it. If they're too stupid to realise that I doubt they would be able to become aware of another dimension.
