Old thread, but I have an opinion, so---------

The Stone Roses' debut definitely had some good songs on it ("I Wanna Be Adored", "Elephant Stone", "Fool's Gold"), but there's also some stuff on there that absolutely BORES me. I can only listen to that album when I'm in a certain mood, and I'm not in that mood too often. So, I can only agree with the NME if they're judging it based on its influence on British pop/rock music in the 90s (play those songs with more distortion/reverb and they'll sound like shoegaze). Beyond that, it doesn't have a place in the 100 Greatest Albums of All Time-not in the Top 10 and definitely not #1.

I haven't even heard of most of the Wire's stuff...
