I know a record store where you can get vinyl for free, pre-packed in bulk sets of 15-20 LPs each. If you take home the whole package then it's free, but if you only want a single LP then it costs 50 cents.
In the rare case that you'd find anything even remotely interesting you'd probably happily pay those 50 cents, just so you won't have to take home the rest.
