In my lifetime, there have been three major earthquakes in southern california which combined caused billions of dollars of damage.
in that same lifetime, there have been nearly a DOZEN terribly destructive hurricanes in the gulf states, including several which practically destroyed WHOLE cities..
I think that the current tally is
California Earthquakes 3
Gulf State Hurricanes 12
so how bad are earthquakes really?
and also, didn't you know that building codes have become so well adjusted that your homes, buildings and roadways are much much much more likely to survive an earthquake than a hurricane..
you can build against earthquakes, but a fucking storm surge is another matter entirely...
but I take it by your response that you do not live here, or maybe even have never felt an earthquake before? If you had, you would laugh out loud.. we don't even get out of bed for those things unless it is above a 6.0 and those happen less then once a decade...
