Understandable. And yeah, I guess just learning "from now on, what you call this is called that now. Don't ask why, it just is" can be a little awkward to get used to. It was similar, in some ways, for me when moving in to higher grades at English only schools. A lot of the words didn't make sense to me until I saw some mild similarity to the french word. I still make small mistakes, like putting a dollar sign at the end of a number instead of before. It just makes more sense to me.
I also pronounce "subtract", "substract" more often than not.
