I disagree. Spacially if an item is 'next to' something else, it can still be opposite. The only opposite of spacially opposite that I can think of is non existence really... or existance in the exact same space.
Opposite of anything else in the ways of something being completely different to... well then the opposite is something which is not completely different, but completely the same.
