i loved the Trainspotting and Acid House movies, but i'd only read Trainspotting until i was held up at an airport a while back. they had Crime at the bookstore. it was different but very good. apparently he lives in Florida part of the year now, and the protagonist is a Scottish detective on vacation in Miami who gets drawn into a local case when he starts back on the hookers and blow routine... not as innovative as Trainspotting but very entertaining.
