You should give Trainspotting another go at least. I too found the first couple of chapters pretty difficult to get into, mostly because of the phonetic way in which it's written and the obscure (for me anyway) slang used. It soon became pretty easy to work out though and after that spell at the beginning I really enjoyed it.

Of course, if you'd already got over the whole language thing and merely thought, 'well this is a load of boring crap' (which you're perfectly entitled to) then ignore everything I just said.
