Fuck dubbing.
Now that I have a semi-decent listening comprehension of English:
if I want to see a comedy/funny movie most of the good bits in dialogues will (most certainly) be lost in translation, if I want to see a "serious" movie it's even more annoying coz you basically
lose the original performance delivered by the actors.
Plus I hate when I (without even trying) can understand what an actor is saying lip-reading and I hear a TOTALLY DIFFERENT AND MOST OF THE TIMES FUCKED UP translation.
And different actors are given the same voice (have a look at the list
here ).
Even if here we have the "best dubbers" in the world (supposedly) it's just a shame imo. I can understand why "old" movies basically
needed dubbing, and I kinda "love" some voices given to some classic actors (Al Pacino, De Niro...) but nowadays in such a "globalized" world it's really getting on my nerves. I wish theaters had seats with headphones plugs to get the original audio stream sent directly to my brain.
Italian audience is so lame, example: when I went to see "Letters from Iwo Jima" a few guys literally walked away when they realized the movie was subbed and not dubbed.
Bottom line:
I'm fucked.
The End of this rant.

p.s. this applies to non-english spoken movies too, I'd rather see a subbed movie than a dubbed one.
