Okay, I've seen every nearly thing this guy has done, trying to figure out what the hype is about, and the only two films I'd consider even halfway WATCHABLE are Dracula and Careful. And those aren't that great either.

Coward Bends the Knee has to be the worst film ever made.

This is just some talentless hack with Canadian film grants and a fancy computer. His films look like shit, and they have some of the worst scripts EVER. Also, for someone whose films have more cuts than a Michael Bay film, these are some of the most DULL films I've ever witnessed. There's no humor, no suspense, no romance, no drama... the look of the films aren't that compelling (unless random color filters and vaseline smeared on the lens are exciting to you)... on the rare occasion he will stumble upon a good image, he doesn't linger on it for more than a second. There's just nothing to "take" in from any of his films, and even beyond that, they aren't even interesting as anti-film experiments, since there is a clear attempt to weave some kind of interesting narrative in these films, but they all, sorry to say, SUCK.

Seriously -- what's the deal with this guy?

I haven't seen My Winnipeg but it looks like more of the same garbage.
