of course you know where punk all really started, right? Maybe you do if you caught a post I made the other day. Punk fucking started with "All Day & All of the Night" by The Kinks way back in 1964 when Ray & Dave Davies came up with that uptempo barre progression & Dave sliced his amp speaker with a razor & pieced it back together with pins & tape to achieve previously unheard of distortion. Of course, there were elements of punk already brewing pre-'64 in rockabilly, garage & other styles, but that song is really the catalyst for it all probably more than any other single piece of music.
Oh, that little tidbit didn't make it into any VH-1 shows or to wikipedia? Such a pity. Well, you read it here first.
