it's not as far out as what happened to you but from what i experienced i can imagine freakier stuff happening. one time it answered questions that nobody in the room apart from me could have known the answer to, which kind of weird, but the other time was the one that was way weirder, it was just me and one other friend, we asked some questions and just got nonsense answers and then the pointer started to move very very fast in a circle (too fast for it to have been my friend messing around) and we both got icey cold in our arms that we were touching the pointer with. we stopped at that point and never did it again.
