You can tell you've hit a nerve with an egocentric, pseudo-intellectual lefty when they respond with a psychobabble diagnostic of what ruffled their feathers. All they're doing is opening themselves up to even more ridicule and scorn. I have to admit the net would be a poorer place without such figures of fun.
