I think the linoleum single might be smear (There must be vaseline on your lens...) but they also had a couple of other ones, one of which included the timeless and epoch defining lyrics, "I won't go out tonight/ can't be bothered/ I won't be stumbling in/ dangerous shoes/ dangerous shoes"

Brassy, also yes. There was another heavier girl band I can't remember the name of, blonde hair, a bit Courtney Love-y, but not brassy. And also there was a kind of art-school band who had a single called 'plastic bag' and they went on stage naked a lot... who were they?
