If you don't have consciousness during that term, it does seem that way, but you still lose those years of your life, and if you come out of stasis say 30 years later, that would be dramatic, don't you think, especially if you are not going to get those years back. Now suddenly you're old.
If you do have consciousness that would be cruel punishment.
This was an entertaining movie, Rambo is a good guy fighting tyranny. I think that gets missed in the talk of the First Blood. Its really a story about corrupt cops.
