I hate MGMT with a passion. Fucking boring band. They've got one good song and the rest is plain atrocious. Overhyped for no reason.
I don't think you can compare Animal Collective with them. I mean, it's fine to not like them (though I'm personally a huge fan, but I thought everyone on there knew that already), but they've not been hyped for no reason. They've been releasing albums and touring non stop (seriously. I've been able to see them three times in a year in
Lille - I mean, that's not New York or London. That's Lille), evolving constantly (it's not like they've been doing the same formula for 9 years), exploring a broad range of music, from noise to freak folk to electronic pop to blahblahblah.
