Well.. he was the first director to really be super self referential. he also filmed with no script usually. So, everything is just kinda made up, and usually reflects his life at the moment, he puts a lot of his own personal drama in his films. But EVERY SINGLE ONE OF HIS FILMS has a reference to filmmaking, some more than others.

Godard's just all over the place. there's just something about his anarchic editing, mood, etc. that really appeals to me. I can see it being abit much for some people, but his later, slower, more static works are just amazing beyond words. As usual, I gotta reccomend every man for himself/slow motion/whatever the french term for it is. Just insanely dark and beautiful.
