Nels' humility and/or self-deprecating sense of humor cracks me up - guy's a serious candidate for best guitar player alive, and he says things like "We thought we would get killed for doing this [Interstellar Space Revisited] but reviews have been alarmingly favorable and we were actually nominated for an International Jazz Critics Award (didn't win though)". On the Zawinul cover from the new album: "...a blazing and/or totally indulgent version".

Another one: "Word on the street is that a song I played on for M. Ward (cover of Jimmie Dale Gilmore's 'Headed For A Fall') is coming out this month on 7" vinyl. You'll know it's me if you hear it because I am doing my now-familiar 'rave-up' solo. Hope you're not tired of it!".
