It's hard to explain what makes someone give up on a game after 15 minutes without getting into personal history and bias.

The worst part of the game is auto-battle. I literally played with my arm and the controller behind my head, just hitting one button. No more strategy. There's nothing else to it. Your health regenerates after every encounter; no more dragging around a half-dead party, fearing another Marlboro battle. In fact, forget parties; you only control one character.

What's happened is simple: Square is trying to extend the classic RPG to the non-RPG audience. Make it easy for ya.

I think I'm too old to enjoy games about teenagers who can save the world, but who can't make a single sophisticated insight about its nature or form a single mature relationship with their peers. Mass Effect fucking ruined me.
