the Carolina Hurricanes are on a hot streak with their rookie goalie Cam Ward, Cory Stillman and Rod Brind'Amour, they have beaten the Canadiens, the Devils, and the Sabres to get to the finals

the Edmonton Oilers have been the underdog early, but now are the emotional favorite with Sergei Samsonov, Ryan Smith, and Chris Pronger
they have beaten the President's Cup Trophy winner Red Wings early, the Sharks, and the Mighty Ducks to make a run for their 6 sixth cup (and first oiler team not to feature Messier, Kurri, and Fuhr)

jagr got the pearson, a player-voted honor. they recognize when a hall of famer comes in and puts a franchise on his back by regaining his scoring touch and revealing never-before-seen leadership skills. joe thornton needs to thank the boy cheechoo for his awards.
