The thing that I enjoy about this place is that it's not some fan-worship shrine, it's a realistic place, where the world isn't centred around the band and its output. I love that there are people on here who come on share SY experiences and info. But I love too that I can come in here and participate in a discussion about football, or food. And I love that there are people on here who are always ready to intervene when things start getting pompous (Hi Porkmarras - how ya doin' today?). I love that people come on here to ask questions about cultural stuff because they know that it is a place where they will find like-minded people who will give an honest opinion.

This is the only board that I post on, because it is the only board that I feel the need to post on. All of life is here. If Carlsberg made internet forums, they would probably make the Sonic Youth Gossip site.

If you don't like what's here, then leave, but, please, do so quietly, will you?

oh my god. this is fucking dumb. the thread starter is right. and wrong. there are many many diehard sy fans here, this place is amazing to find shit on sy/side projects and other stuff that would otherwise remain hidden. ive been here since around 2003 and i am eternally grateful for all the shit ive learned and am learning from you guys and gals here. not just sy but other bands. if it wasnt for here i would never have gotten into deerhoof, bardo pond, afrirampo, ruins, keiji haino, noxagt, lightning bolt, the magik fucking markers, countless stuff. im sure im not alone here but there is an unprecedented amount of complete bollocks peruated here as well. the latest trend of hate threads and slagging off and babies throwing toys out of cots was funny at first but is now tedious, annoying and fucking stupid. at times this feels like an mtv board. i have got a good sense of humour but you an only laugh at something a few times before it becomes boring and frustrating. so ill make the call for all the sy boardies be them new, old, or middling, to pull their heads out of their anuses and start breathing air again into this place. its then and only then when we can get back to really using this meduim for what it should be used for, INFORMATION AND EDUCATION AND ENLIGHTNENMENT not fucking slagging someone off for liking pearl jam and the like. we are all adults (kinda) here and i know some folk might find what im saying pretentiious but i dont give a flying fuck, some of the flak that has hit some members here recently is really unappropriate and i know some of you guys are only joking but i know some arent. give it a rest already and start spreading the sonic love again like it was on the old board.................
