Well, after waiting forever for the Flaming Lips/Sonic Youth tickets to go on sale for St.Louis I just discovered that they are *you guessed it* SOLD OUT! I guess I can only see this shit if I shell out like $200 or more on ebay! At least I got to see SY in Kansas..

If you saw them in Kansas (recently, I assume), do you really need to see them again?
I saw them at the Pageant a couple years ago. It was a great show, but I am not fond of the venue. I don't feel like I'm missing out on this upcoming show.

I got burned on St. Louis too. But Council Bluffs was still available last I checked. Still hoping they make it to my town.

yeah....a little pissed off here too. i kept calling place after place and nobody had any word on Sonic Youth tickets so i figured they weren't onsale yet. then i see these fuckers on Ebay. evidently this is a FLAMING LIPS show that has been onsale for the better part of a month now. i will not pay much over the face value of $35 and will report anyone on Ebay who sells over that (plus fees of course).......damn fuck it all to hell.....
i like the Lips a great deal, but when the hell did they get so popular??? they only play like 2 live instruments, and the rest is Wayne Coyne acting like a doofus. i'm unbelievably tired of SY whoring themselves out as openners. |

I feel yr pain. I've given up on shows unless it's a local band. Too much hassle trying to find tickets, too expensive, and too many people. With bands like SY, I just try to find recorded live stuff (boots-which I don't have, or legit, which I do, like Hold That Tiger) or live videos. That satisfies that jones for me.

I barely ever go to shows that are not small club shows (one of the benefits of liking music that few people are interested in), so this kind of thing is close to a non-issue for me.
I haven't seen the Flaming Lips since the early-mid 90s (when they were most definitely a full-on rock band with many "live instruments"), but I think I will probably go to this show, is only for the extreme irony of seeing this bill at a venue as ridiculous as the Minnesota State Fair. I usually avoid the Fair like the Plaugue, but this is too hilarious to miss. |
