I am sick of all these know-nothing pundits, posturing politicians, stupid businessmen, childless retirees complaining about their taxes, greedy for-profit charter school companies, blind school board administrators, pandering union leaders, and other assholes running they mouths about how teachers are all the problem with public education. There is only ONE problem with public education right now, an utter, depressing, soul crushing lack of FUNDING which results in layoffs, overcrowding in the classroom, and unbelievable corner cutting.
Go ahead assholes, keep blaming the very people (thats right, teachers are not robots or symbols, we are flesh and blood people) who sacrifice every thing day after day to teach, mentor, and babysit all your kids, and see what happens! Keep firing us, keep pushing us into corners, keep cutting our funding, keep pissing on our legs and telling us its raining, see what happens.. Does anyone remember going to Los Angeles public schools in the late 80s and early 90s? Yeah.... that is exactly what the whole fucking country is aspiring for the way they are acting, thinking, and speaking. It is quite disheartening, we were hoping that 2009 was the shit hit the fan moment but alas, it keeps sinking out of control.

People love to hate on teachers for some reason. Most of them are honorable people.

According to some quick-ish googling, Congress approved an $82 billion increase in the 2019 budget as compared to 2017. I would be curious to know exactly how much that money, if put into the education system, would improve everything across the board. I'm not even saying decrease the military budget here, i'm saying just have them repeat the same budget.
$82bil realistically would probably be overkill many times over and only a fraction would actually be needed to provide drastic improvements across the board. But yeah, our military spending is outrageous, and we could do so much more homeland building with keeping them reigned in even a little bit.
