What makes the references to technology in paintings, movies, music, etc hip instead of lame?
Good uses of technology: David Bowie- TVC15, The Stooges- TV Eye, Pixies- Distance Equals Rate Times Time, Me, You, And Everyone We Know Lame uses- You Got Mail, Something's Gotta Give, The Streets- When You Wasn't Famous (the first lines are so fucking lame, I usually like Skinner's lyrics, but it just blows) |

The premier pioneer musical performer utilizing technology in their art is Laurie Anderson.

I should clarify, the use of pop culture technology is what I'm talking about- televisions, microwaves (Gang of Four's reunion tour made good use here!), cell phones, computers, video game consoles.
When will someone sing about IM, texting, or e-mail blatantly and get away with it? |

I was going more by the topic title than the context of your message because yes, I have a Laurie Anderson-themed agenda. She's second only to Sonic Youth as the most important musical act of the last (over) twenty-five years.
