Why's that?
Is it because they're like the Dire Straits or Steely Dan of punk? |

It is, technically, great. It's still too boring to ever listen to except when I'm in the most specialist of moods! Also, that song is probably my favorite song by them, and it didn't really have anything to do with my statement, I just wanted to say... "Littul jonnah jewellllllllll."

Who cares if it's cooler to like obscure stuff no one outside of a very small group of people knew about at the time, as opposed to something hailed as a masterpiece upon arrival, and continues to be thought of as such to this day?

DSOTM is still great in my books, but I'm just not as enthusiastic about it as I used to be. Had I made my list three years ago, it would be in my top five and Animals would probably be my number one. I've been very tired of Pink Floyd for a while.

I would probably feel the same way if I expressed my love for my favorite albums the way I did my favorite movies when I was younger- watch them over and over, day in and day out. As a result, I ended up rendering a whole of stuff unwatchable.
Nowdays, I listen to albums/watch movies once and then shelf them for months. This way, it gives me time to forget some stuff so they retain their freshness. But whatever, Dark Side of the Moon is special to me for a lot of personal reasons, so I still love it, and probably always will.

I see yr point completely here. I think for many people that Television represent more of what was happening in NY during that time than most other bands, considering they formed back in 73ish. While the Ramones will always be credited for their accomplishments and so forth, Televison seem to be considered more like muses or perhaps the foundation for mid to late CBGB sruff. Anyways, yeah I love ''Friction'', winding, gritty, masterpiece, and I also like other tunes on that record and it is a great record, I simply think that it commands more over peoples sense of history and relevance than their likes/and dislikes of sound. |

Neither of my top two got in (though I think that's been the case for every list).

and yeah I like television too, I don't consider them punk as much as art rock, they were a great band though, for "Marquee", "Adventure" is kinda terrible.
