Informative and interesting, not so much of you're not a Dylan fan, but even still good history on the NY beat scene of the early 60's.

Yeah, agree with RdTv. Even someone not particularly into Dylan should find the early part of the film looking at the East Village/SoHo scene really interesting. As a Dylan fan myself though, i just thought the whole thing was great.
I'm curious to see Scorsese's 'Shine a Light' documentary, but slightly put off by its apparent emphasis on a recent concert - the thought of Jack White stumbling his way through 'Loving Cup' hardly fills me with optimism either. |

This is a great all-round doc - manages to keep a fairly even balance, and Dylan is about as straightforward and open as he's ever likely to be (well, not much at all, but still....). I fear that "Shine A Light" will be one huge close up of Jagger's ego - ugh. I'd prefer to watch the car-wreck that is "Hail Hail Rock And Roll", where Chuck Berry treats Keith Richards with ill-disguised contempt, and rattles off a set which doubtlessly he could do in his sleep, and puts in the minimum of effort.

Melly, I think you have mentioned Hail Hail Rock & Roll before. It sounds great, if only for that part (since that is all I know of it), so I believe I shall add it to my Netflix queue post-haste.
