What's This Called? for Saturday, November 7th with your host Ricardo Wang from Noon to 1 PM Pacific Time (that's 4-5 PM in Halifax, Nova Scotia!) on KPSU...
featuring the dulcet sounds of Portland's own The Passengers! SWERVING STREAMING AUDIO RIGHT HERE! Or in PDX, for the 20th Century fetish crowd: 1450 AM in the Portland OR/Vancouver WA metro area 98.1 FM on the Portland State University campus Lorraine and Ellis of The Passengers trade instruments with each other like tweakers turning in bottles for deposit money. These ladies know what they are doing, and if you doubt it you'd better duck because something solid will be flying your way. Noise rock has bordered on boring for far too long and The Passengers are here to make it fresh. Go ahead and compare them to Teenage Jesus and other No Wave bands, just don't think for a second that they are copping those influences. Their's is an organic trainwreck built from entirely personal collisions. The real root of rock is not gumbo, unless you threw it up, and The Passengers have taken the roots deep, deep into the dirt. Smash it up, by all means, but see what you can build with the pieces. |

The Passengers are still unloading, so I'm rocking it with the Dead C at the moment.
