They did cover Neil Young's Computer Age... My parents use computers constantly; and they're pushing 60... Nah, SY must know at least about firewalls and antivirus...

Ha... They probably ask Coco about anything computer-related... Or Lee... Lee seems really cool and trendy. I bet he has an iPod.

He has an iRiver. He's a hipster. iPods are now too popular to be hip.

Being in the music business, they're probably more computer savvy than most people their age. Jim used them as live instruments. They must have some knowledge of computer sampling and editting and stuff.

Hence the word "used." I'm sure he at least informed them of what he was doing to an extent.

Right. He used them in Sonic Youth. Keep semantics out of this. This is a serious board, here.

get yourself at least an antistatic wristband ($3? at radio shack) and learn how to use it. or you'll zap your shit better even is the antistatic vinyl mat but that's too geeky (i own one ha ha). anyway best wishes & keep us posted. |

It's fucked. I dropped it off at some guys house who knows what he's doing today, and he called earlier- "your computer is fucked". Luckily, he's salvaging as much as he can from the computer.
He's installed a new 80GB hard-drive too, as well as spending all of today working on it. 45 pounds. |

ouch. though 45 pounds is not so bad for a new drive plus repairs?. so if the drive was fucked, was the motherboard OK? busted caps on a motherboard can cause many a fuckup and the hard drive nothing to do with it. anyway it's getting fixed. but try learning a bit about this shit. seriously useful, like basic car repair. at least keeps you from getting ripped off-- but sounds like a decent price if you ask me.

Yeah, I think I got a pretty good deal. This guy is totally amazing at computer-shit. He's fixed many computers of my family members and so forth. I'm just glad I'll have a PC to use again.
I'd consider myself pretty articulate on computers- more than most- but once the actual technical stuff starts I'm useless. CTRL ALT DEL? |

I have a slight fear of being electrocuted, so I leave it up to other people.
I sort of understand computers, like I could install new RAM if I had to, but I wouldn't know how to diagnose one. |
